15 Things to Know Before Getting Lip Tattooed

15 Things to Know Before Getting Lip Tattooed

If you want beautiful, rosy lips without relying on lipstick, lip tattooing or lip coloring can help you achieve that perfectly! No matter when you wake up, you can confidently show off your bare face without needing to reapply lipstick. It makes life a lot easier! However, before booking your appointment, here are 15 important things you need to prepare for:

  1. Moisturize your lips in advance: Keep your lips hydrated daily for two weeks before your appointment to ensure the color sets easily and evenly.
  2. Avoid fermented foods, alcohol, blood-thinning medications, and vitamin C: Fermented foods can leave bacteria in the mouth, alcohol can dry out your lips, and vitamin C and blood thinners can cause bleeding during the procedure, making it harder for the color to set.
  3. Eat before the procedure: Make sure to eat beforehand, as it might be challenging to eat right after the procedure.
  4. The process is not painful: With modern tools and the use of topical numbing cream, you won’t feel pain during the process.
  5. Swelling after the procedure: While most people don’t experience swelling, some may have minor swelling for about an hour afterward. If the right technique is used, swelling may not occur at all.
  6. Lip color right after the first session: Immediately after the procedure, your lips will look darker, almost like you’re wearing lipstick. Over time, as the outer layer flakes off, the color will lighten.
  7. Peeling process: Your lips will start peeling about 3-4 days after the procedure, which is completely normal.
  8. Tattooing at AKIRA STUDIO: Ombre Lips technique: This technique creates a gradient effect, where the outer part of the lips is darker and gradually fades towards the center, which is the lightest part. This gives the lips dimension and fullness, similar to makeup techniques that use shading and highlighting for a standout look.
  9. Avoid rubbing or scratching: Do not rub, pick, or scratch your lips after the procedure as it can cause inflammation and uneven color.
  10. Avoid water contact: For the first 2-3 days, try to avoid getting your lips wet to prevent the color from fading too quickly.
  11. Use SPF lip balm: After the peeling process, apply lip balm with SPF regularly to keep your lips moisturized and help them heal faster.
  12. Temporary dark spots may appear: You might notice some dark spots right after the procedure due to mild inflammation, but they will disappear as the skin heals.
  13. Avoid lipstick: Don’t apply lipstick until the peeling process is complete to prevent irritation and clogged pores.
  14. Avoid matte lipstick: Stay away from matte lipsticks as they can dry out your lips and cause them to darken.
  15. If you’ve had lip fillers: Wait at least one month after getting lip fillers before doing a lip tattoo. If you haven’t had fillers yet, it’s recommended to get the tattoo first to prevent inflammation from doing both procedures too close together.
